Here at HK 247 we’ve found that it’s the little things that count the most. Many cleaners barely scratch the surface, or worse, actually scratch the surface. We understand the difference between the need for a gentle hand and when only the harshest scrubbing techniques will work. We use gentle products whenever we can as this is better for our health. We never use bleach as other methods are just as good without the harmful effects on the lungs. Living Rooms/Bedrooms/Reception Areas/Hallways/Landings & Stairs/Commercial Office Spaces
We begin by removing cobwebs and dust from high up while giving the areas a good vacuuming using high-powered Sebo vacuums with HEPA filters. We also use the vacuums to remove spiders and spiderwebs (tough on webs, tough on the causes of webs!). So, yes, unfortunately, spiders are often harmed during our cleans. The vacuums are also handy for sliding across the tops of baseboards and have attachments so that we can apply suction right to the bottom edge where they often meet a carpet.
Light fittings are dusted and polished as well as switches and sockets. We wipe down and clean/remove stains from internal wooden doors as well as the main doors leading to the exterior areas. Frames and sometimes even walls will not escape our attention. If it’s dirty, and we can clean it, we will.
uPVC window and door frames, as well as electrical boxes, are cleaned using a specially formulated solution that, with enough scrubbing, can even remove black scuff marks from shoes. This is especially true in commercial office spaces.

Kitchens, Ovens, Fridges & other Appliances
As with all other areas, the first thing we do is remove cobwebs and the causes of cobwebs before moving along the tops of all cupboards and removing the dust along with any errant debris left over from the move. Light fittings are dusted and polished. We then vacuum or sweep the floor as a preliminary measure to remove surface soils.
Steam is a huge favourite here at HK 247 as not only is it the best at blasting out grime that has become trapped between fittings but it is also known to kill germs, including Covid. We use it on sinks and appliances like ovens and fridges alongside degreasers to remove the layers of almost invisible grease that can accumulate especially on extractor hoods. Using a degreaser means we can use gentle cloths that won’t scratch brushed aluminium. Fridges also do not escape the steam treatment and are thoroughly cleaned before being deodorised.
We clean inside and outside cupboards using disinfectant and we don’t miss the kickboards! All shiny surfaces, including edging, and detailing are cleaned and made to sparkle again. We clean and disinfect all surfaces, including sockets and switches.
We finish with the floor and, depending on the material, we use a steam mop or a damp mop with disinfectant.
Bathrooms & Toilet Areas
Just like kitchens, bathrooms, and toilet areas demand our utmost care and attention, we find that these spaces require special consideration. Furthermore, in keeping with our topic, it appears that spiders have a particular affinity for these areas, which can make them surprisingly challenging to spot! Even after a thorough vacuuming, when we believe the space to be clear, there always seem to be one or two clever spiders that somehow manage to elude our detection. Thus, we completely understand how easily they can go unnoticed.
Following the vacuuming process, we diligently inspect for and address mould issues. This is imperative because it may take a couple of hours or more for the treatment to take full effect. In cases where the mould problem is particularly severe, multiple treatments might be necessary. If the mould is deeply embedded in silicone, the only viable solution is to remove the silicone and replace it with fresh material.
